If You Don't Know Me By Now...

You have no reason to know me.

You know about my late night whining, my little heartbreaks that loom large over everything else. But I rarely talk about anything else.

So here's something else.

I'm tremendously into music. And one of my constant heartaches comes from reading tour listings and holding my breath every time I see the tour dates winding South ... never to reach Miami. It's the kind of everpresent rejection I've become accustomed to and among the things that makes me want to throw in the towel on FL.

Lately, call it luck, call it the divine intervention of the Gods, or the unknown forces that keep me from putting my condo on the market, throwing my clothes, vintage Gucci bag collection, and my trusty cat, into the car, get on I-95 North and never look back, or whatever -- but this month a multitude of great bands are touring here. Starting this weekend with Langerado (including Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Wilco, the Flaming Lips, and more!), next weekend's Ultra Festival (with The Killers headlining!!!), stellastarr*, BLOC PARTY!!! and hopefully more, this is becoming a decent place to live. You can get tickets to these shows with little, if any, difficulty, they aren't overcrowded, and the fans are generally pretty chill. In all, a good situation.

To make matters even better, tonight I discovered that many of my fave bands have had shows recorded by NPR and they are downloadable! I've spent the evening jamming away to Belle & Sebastian's show last night in D.C.; Iron and Wine's show a few months back; and the New Pornographers. Can't beat it.

So dear reader, I'm sure you are shocked that there are no discussions of boys or being dicked over. As of late, I've none to report. And even so, on occasion, I do talk about other things!
